Title: Innovative Teacher & Education Coach
My professional career started with my qualifications in environmental chemistry and marine biology, followed by working as a teacher with specialization in didactics and ‘Information and Communication Technology’ (ICT). I’m now focusing on my thesis for my Master of Arts and Social Science in ‘Adult Learning and Global Change’ (ALGC), with the working title Navigating Distributed Knowledge with the use of Web Tools.
In 2012 I've started eduToolkit a ‘Grassroots Organization’ promoting ‘Teachers Open Online Learning’ (TOOL) for Professional Development. We investigate the concept of ‘The Networked Teacher’ and find out more about ‘Networked Literacy & Fluency’ in education. Our aim is to provide a free teacher training, where the desire to learn is fully met by the opportunity to do so. This challenge is still under development and will be linked to the next iteration of eduToolkit - The Use of Web Tools in Networked Learning [#CNT12] (16/4 – 4/5, 2012) on the Peer-2-Peer University (P2PU). I'm developing our first course with help of WikiEducator called Certified Networked Teacher - The Use of Web Tools and we will use assessment through Mozilla Open Badges Project.
Activity: We have completing the first iteration of "eduToolkit - Promoting Teachers Open Online Learning" [TOOL] and will on 16/4 start "eduToolkit - The Use of Web Tools in Networked Learning" [#CNT12]. At the moment I participate as one of the co-facilitators in "Empower Your Personal Learning (for teachers)"

I firmly believe in two connected philosophies: we learn from all the individuals we interact with and experiences we encounter (some of the smartest and most skilled individuals do not have formal degrees), and that education and knowledge should be open and available to all who seek it--this is what will change the world. I embrace the idea of openness in education and the need to find new ways of assessing and certifying achievements of knowledge, skills and attitudes. Authentic assessment of an individuals skills and knowledge, and the acknowledgement of those, needs to be done outside the formal classroom, as well as inside. Yet, there has not been a ubiquitously accepted way to get that credit. The development of Badges of Learning may be the answer to this.
I am currently the Director of Onlline Curriculum at SUNY Empire State College--a college that is committed to openness in education, and that provides credit for prior learning. By participating I hope to contribute to the development of methods of assessment that will allow the Badges to be accepted and universally honored, to develop new ways of thinking about skills and knowledge, and to help build a community of support for this initiative.
I am interested in helping.
As a sidenote: I took an alternative route to my Bachelor Degree, in gaining credit by evaluation/prior learning assessment and then earning the majority of the rest of my credits by studying under professionals in my field. I sat in very few traditional classes. I took an alternate route to teacher certification as well.

Standard Set Answer:
I am interested in this topic for two reasons:
1. I recently discovered P2PU and therefore this was the first course I came across that I was interested in.
2. I am currently researching certification, accreditations, and other forms of recognizing learning, therefore the concept of "badges" intrigues me.
Through my involvement in this course I hope to learn about "open learning", P2PU's course structure, and about point number two which I identified above.
At this time I cannot commit to assiting with the organization of this course as I will be traveling over the next four weeks and will not have the time to commit outside of participation. In the future I would be interested in learning about becoming an "orgnaizer".
Thank you,
Jason Ansley

As a college counselor I work with students at a point of transition from one learning community to another.
I am interested in the ways in which we support our young people developing their identities as learners.
And am interested in ways of increasing our transparency as learners, ala this Rushkoff quote:
"Transparency means showing others what's going on inside so that people can be attracted to what you do."
— Douglas Rushkoff, http://vimeo.com/24609135
My current learning community is moving towards becoming a 1:1 learning environment. I want to get out in front so I can be better prepared to help my students live into (and make transparent!) their gifts and accomplishments.
I expect to learn from others' perspectives and contribute my own. Happy to help Mozilla with this project...
