I am an undergraduate student living and working in Houston, Texas. After many years of studying with only a firm grasp of what did NOT interest me, I've finally found a field that I can't learn enough about (literally and figuratively).

As a software engineer all of the applications we currently build are web based applications and security is becoming a major concern, my knowledge is not wide in security.

Learning about the basics of what we mean by web applications security, what threats should be considered when designing web applications and how to build secure web applications.

I have quite a bit of experience in host-based and network security. My current job involves security compliance too.
I recently completed an Entrepreneurship program, and am finishing a masters in MIS. I have a dream of creating a startup. So talk to me if you are seriously interested in this.
I have less experience (although a bit) with application development, and wanted to deepen my knowledge of web application security without spending 5k and a week at SANS :)

I hope to be able to understand what the real web-based security threats are and how to mitigate them. This will help me not only do my job better, but also make me more marketable.
