This course will become read-only in the near future. Tell us at community.p2pu.org if that is a problem.

Week One, Italy & Spain

In the first week of this study group we will learn about the art of the Baroque in Italy and Spain.  We will learn about artists, movements, and the related historical climate.  You should try to get a sense for the distinct oeuvre of each of the artists examined and also recognize important works of art on sight.

For easier distribution of work, each week is divided into three "sessions" that help you break down the material into manageable chunks.

For all of this study group's tasks, we will be using the Saylor Foundation's course, "ARTH207: Baroque Art to Neoclassicism" which you can access by clicking on "Saylor Foundation, Art History 207" under "External Links."

First Session:

Complete sections 1.1 through 1.2.1.2 on the "Saylor Foundation, Art History 207" course.

Second Session:

Complete sections 1.2.1.3 through 1.2.3.3 on the "Saylor Foundation, Art History 207" course.

Third Session:

Complete sections 1.3 through 1.3.3 on the "Saylor Foundation, Art History 207" course.  You should stop BEFORE the two assignments at the end of section 1.3.3 as we will complete these assignments next week.
