translate HTML tags like <div>, <p> into real world structures
Hello, I've been writing HTML by hand for about two years now, and I feel confident in my ability to use basic HTML tags to create functional html pages.
Please take a look at the submission where I talk about how I would mark up an image of a shelf of teapots. Also take a look at a previous task I did where I use hand-written HTML code to create "marked up" versions of photographs.

I like the teapot, breakfast, and beach examples. I double-checked your reasoning for not wanting to use span on the MDN reference and they agree with you:
"It should be used only when no other semantic element is appropriate."
Full points from me.
