Challenge supporting the use of materials from the Plot Unit of OpenFiction Project.
This challenge supports the use of materials found in the Plot Unit of the OpenFiction Project, a free and open introductory fiction writing course
The goals of this challenge are to:
• develop a critical vocabulary for discussling fictional narrative plot
• practice identifying and describing elements of fictional narrative plot, and
• learn drafting and revision techniques for improving the plot structures of your own work.
- 1. Complete a plot generation writing exercise View and Discuss This will help you come up with plot ideas to move your story forward.
- 2. Bonus Optional Task - Submit your own plot idea generation exercise View and Discuss Help provide others with writing exercises that don't have to be purchased in a text.
- 3. Try to identify common plotting approaches View and Discuss Look through assignments submitted by peers to identify similarities in how stories are plotted.
- 4. Provide a plot summary of your selected story View and Discuss Tell us how the author of your selected story did (or didn't) use the profluent plot structure.
- 5. Provide a chronology summary of your selected study View and Discuss Share how the chronological order of events in your selected story differs (or not) from the order the author presents them.
- 6. Identify the dramatic questions in your selected story. View and Discuss This will help you to understand how dramatic tension is maintained throughout the story.
- 7. Examine your story draft from the perspective of plot View and Discuss KEEP WRITING YOUR STORY DRAFT! And think about it from the perspective of plot.
